Are you selling something related to being self employed?
July 3, 2008 – 9:55 pm
No. I will, I’m sure, point out products, books, DVDs and other items I’ve found worthwhile and will also point out more of the same which I feel should be avoided. But I’m not stocking anything personally and trying to move it through this site.
There’s no Dave’s SEO book. There’s no Dave’s Guide to Making Money On or Offline. There’s no “low, low price” because I’m not selling anything. Yes, I am running affiliate ads on this site because, let’s be real, I’d be an idiot if I didn’t try to capitalize on incoming traffic but, again, I stock no personal inventory of anything for sale here.
Perhaps a year or two from now I’ll have discovered proven and successful methods to building financial freedom and I’ll get an itch to write a book that just can’t help but be scratched. Should that happen, I will promise one thing… the same advice offered in that hypothetical book will be offered here free of charge. For now, though, the answer remains no.
Remember, I don’t have anything legitimate to sell. Here we are towards the end of day two of this blog’s existence and we haven’t even begun strategizing. This project sprung from the desire to better my life and hopefully bring a few of you along with me to your own success stories.
The project is a means to an end… a personal motivator subject to public scrutiny. What could be more motivating than succeeding or failing in front of an audience of (hopefully) thousands? If I’m successful, I’ll have accomplished my goals honestly and won’t really need to sell anything. If I fail, we all learn some valuable lessons but I still don’t really have a product to sell (unless you think a copy titled something like How To Fail In 30 Steps has profit potential).
So that’s it, folks. I’ll say it one last time. I’m not trying to sell you anything or bait you in to a purchase. I’m just trying to bait you into following me on a very exciting journey which may or may not have a happy ending. I define a happy ending as being successfully self employed or running a home business which contributes so significantly to my bottom line that I no longer feel the need to work a “day job.”
Stumble it!
